Great Falls Voyagers News Release
GREAT FALLS, Mont. - The Great Falls Voyagers began their final homestand of the 2014 regular season with a comfortable 11-3 over the Missoula Osprey Wednesday night at Centene Stadium.
After going down in order in the first, Great Falls (16-21, 39-36) took the lead in the second against Missoula starter Touki Toussaint (1-3). Zach Fisher doubled to start the frame, and with two outs came in to score on an infield single from Zach Fish.
The Osprey (18-19, 35-40) tied it in the next half inning with a two-out hit of their own. Tyler Humphreys dumped a single to the opposite field for the visitors, evening the contest 1-1.
The back and forth battle continued in the bottom of the frame when the Voyagers regained the lead. Mason Robbins drove in John Ziznewski with a bounce out, putting the home team back in front.
Great Falls did not look back after regaining the lead, scoring three in the fourth, two in the fifth, and three in the sixth to open up a 10-2 lead. Leading the way offensively for the Voyagers were Robbins and Fisher, who each drove in three in the contest.
For the night, just one Voyager went without a hit as the home team pounded out 17 knocks, and every Great Falls swinger reached at least twice. The win clinches an overall winning record for Great Falls, and at least a record of .500 at Centene Stadium.
In relief of Yelmison Peralta who struggled with his control, Anthony Santiago (3-3) came on, delivering four innings out of the Voyager bullpen and allowing the final two Osprey runs of the night.
The Voyagers wrap-up their regular season Thursday with the finale of their series with the Osprey. Great Falls will send righty Dane Stone (6-2, 4.01) to the bump, while Missoula will counter with fellow righty, Dallas Newton (3-5, 5.79). First pitch is set for 7:00 and coverage will begin at 6:45 on 1400 AM KXGF and gfvoyagers.com.
