Danbury takes Elmira to the "trash" with 3rd period comeback

ELMIRA, NY--Without a win over Elmira in three prior meetings, the Danbury Trashers trailed the Jackals 2-0 heading into the final period. Less than a minute later Elmira's lead disappeared while Alex Goupil's goal with under four minutes sealed the win as the Trashers topped Elmira 3-2 on Friday night at First Arena.

Chris Chaput and Jarrett Konkle each scored power play goals to give Elmira a 2-0 lead heading into the final frame, despite being outshot 24-19.

Drew Omicioli scored just six seconds into the final period, followed by a Jeff Daw goal just 42 seconds later to tie the score. Goupil's goal came at the 16:06 mark as he fired a shot from the right wing circle that went under the legpads of Jackals' goaltender Nick Boucher.

Jayme Platt earned the win as he stopped 25 of 27 shots while Boucher saved 31 of 24 in a losing cause. Danbury earned their 4th straight win as they improved to 25-9-6 to maintain at least their 10 point lead in the East Division pending the outcome of the Adirondack/Missouri contest.

Danbury returns to the ice on Saturday they'll face the Adirondack Frostbite at the Glens Falls Civic Center starting at 7:35pm

The Trashers return home on Sunday January 22nd at 7:00pm against Adirondack. Sunday's game is also NASCAR Theme Jersey Night as a silent auction will be held for the game-worn jersey from the game.
