Rockford IceHogs News Release

Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs, members of the United Hockey League, were assigned defenseman T.J. Reynolds from the Milwaukee Admirals, the IceHogs American Hockey League affiliate. Admirals' Executive Vice-President/General Manager Phil Wittliff made the announcement Friday. Also IceHogs defenseman Corey Hessler will remain with Milwaukee.

Reynolds, a tough defenseman, comes to Rockford on a conditioning assignment. The 6-2, 235lb blue liner has appeared in 26 games for Milwaukee this season, accumulating 71 penalty minutes. This season marks Reynolds fourth in the pro ranks and tonight will be his first career UHL game. Reynolds is expected to be with the Hogs through the weekend.

Previously, Reynolds skated for the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL), Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins and San Antonio Rampage. During his rookie campaign in 2002-03, Reynolds led the circuit in PIM's racking up 371. In three-plus seasons, Reynolds has skated in 62 games in the AHL.

As for Hessler, he has continued his scoring binge at the next level. The Hogs leading defenseman scorer notched the game-winner on Thursday night for the Admirals, blasting home a power-play goal with just 20 seconds remaining in regulation. Milwaukee topped the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights 4-3.

"Hessler is a perfect example of proximity over perception," said IceHogs Head Coach Steve Martinson. "Young players go to the ECHL because of their affiliations, while some of the affiliations are thousands of miles away. In reality the AHL is looking for the best possible players that they can get and the ones closest by are usually the players that get the opportunity first."

In five games with the Admirals, Hessler has two goals, an assist and a plus/minus rating of +5. Milwaukee is 4-0-1 with Hessler in the lineup and the Admirals are closing in on the first place Houston Aeros trailing them by just two points in the AHL's West Division.

Next Home Game: Friday, Jan. 20 vs. Port Huron Flags. The Hogs and Flags hook up at the MetroCentre. The first 1,000 fans to the game will receive IceHogs Poster #4 from Medicine Man, Johnson Press, Jim Orlando, Pepsi and the Rockford Register Star.
