Damico Assigned to Idaho Falls

Burlington, IA - Following tonight's game against the Clinton LumberKings, the Kansas City Royals assigned Burlington Bees relief pitcher Yovany Damico to the Idaho Falls Chukars in the short-season Pioneer League. In 25 appearances with the Bees this year, Damico was 1-5 with a 4.09 ERA and one save. In 50.2 innings, he allowed 49 hits and 16 walked while striking out 48. Damico spent nearly all of 2005 with the Bees as well. He started strong and was selected to the Midwest League Western Division All-Star Team at mid-season, but tailed off the in second half and finished 2-3 with a 4.66 ERA in 35 appearances and had three saves.

Damico will not be immediately replaced on the Bees roster, leaving the club with 24 active players to start a four-game road trip in Dayton tomorrow night. The Bees play eight road games in the next nine days and will return against to Community Field on Monday, August 14th to start a four-game series against the South Bend Silver Hawks.
