Dallas Reassigns Austin Smith to Texas Stars

CEDAR PARK, TX - The Texas Stars, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Dallas Stars, announced today that Dallas has reassigned right wing Austin Smith to Texas from the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL.

Smith, 24, rejoins Texas for the third time this season, including training camp. The Dallas, Texas native has played in 20 games for Idaho this year and has 23 points (16 goals, 7 assists) and 13 penalty minutes. Smith currently leads the Steelheads and ranks third in the ECHL in goals, he is tied for 14th in the league in plus-minus (+12) and he is averaging 1.15 points-per-game. He has appeared in one AHL game for the Stars this season, making his 2012-13 Texas debut on October 19th at Houston. Smith has played in 13 career AHL games for the Stars and has three assists and eight penalty minutes.

The Stars face the Oklahoma City at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 27th at Cedar Park Center. Thursday's game is an H-E-B Night, a $3 Beer Night and features a post-game open ice session.
