Dairon Reyes Called up by Cuba's U-20 National Team for 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship

Inter Miami CF II winger Dairon Reyes has been called up to the Cuban U-20 national team for the Upcoming 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship. The competition will offer Reyes and Cuba the opportunity to qualify for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia and the 2024 Summer Olympics.

The Concacaf U-20 Championship will be hosted in Honduras, running from June 18 to July 3, and consist of a group stage followed by knockout rounds; the top three teams in each group will qualify for the knockout stages. Cuba has been placed in Group A alongside Canada, Saint Kitts and Nevis and the United States.

Group Stage Schedule:

Saturday, June 18 at 4 p.m. ET: Cuba vs. Canada

Monday, June 20 at 4 p.m. ET: Saint Kitts and Nevis vs. Cuba

Wednesday, June 22 at 8:30 p.m. ET: United States vs. Cuba

Reyes, 18, is a product of the Academy that has featured for Inter Miami CF II since its inaugural season in 2020. This season, he has made six appearances, two of them starts, for Inter Miami CF II in MLS NEXT Pro this season.

Additionally, the young winger has registered nine appearances for Cuba's senior national team, first making his senior debut in June 2021 in a FIFA World Cup Qualifier against the British Virgin Islands, coming off the bench to register a goal and an assist in just 26 minutes of play en route to a 5-0 victory. Most recently, Reyes started in all four Concacaf Nations League matches that Cuba played during the June international window, helping the team record three wins from its four outings.

Reyes is part of a host of current and former Inter Miami CF Academy players to be called up to a national team. The list includes: Noah Allen (U.S. U-20 MYNT), Edison Azcona (Dominican Republic senior and youth national teams), Israel Boatwright (Dominican Republic U-20 national team), Bryan Destin (Haiti U-20 national team), Benjamin Cremaschi (U.S. U-19 MYNT), Tyler Austin, Justin Ellis, Santiago Morales and Felipe Valencia (U.S. U-15 MYNT), Logan Batiste and Tyler Hall (U.S. U-17 MYNT), Khobi Thomas (Jamaica U-20 national team), among others.
