June 15, 2022 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Seattle Sounders FC News Release
SEATTLE, WASH. - As FIFA prepares to make its list of final host cities for the FIFA World Cup 2026™ known, via a live broadcast selection event tomorrow afternoon from 2:00-3:00 p.m. PT (FS1, Telemundo, FIFA.com), the SEA 2026 bid committee invites soccer fans to join together one of the many official watch parties taking place across Washington State.
The FIFA World Cup 2026™ is taking place in the United States, Canada and Mexico and Seattle is one of 17 American cities currently vying for selection as a host city. The SEA 2026 bid champions a World Cup vision that is inclusive, sustainable and celebrates Seattle's rich soccer history.
Fans can join one another to take in FIFA's live announcement - which has the potential to be a historic moment for not only Seattle, but all of Washington - at one of the establishments listed below, which are hosting official SEA 2026 watch parties. SEA 2026 encourages fans to attend these watch parties and live one of the core tenets of the bid: to centralize and patronize small, local, ground-floor businesses across Washington State.
In addition to televising the announcement, all official watch party locations will raffle tickets to Sounders FC's match vs. Portland on Saturday, July 9 at Lumen Field, where the Rave Green are unveiling the team's 2022 Concacaf Champions League banner and officially celebrating the historic tournament victory.
Should Seattle be selected as a host city, a community celebration will be held on the Seattle waterfront later tomorrow evening to allow fans an additional opportunity to celebrate the momentous occasion together. Further details surrounding this celebration will be shared immediately following FIFA's announcement, if Seattle is among the chosen cities.
