Norfolk Admirals News Release
NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk Admirals General Manager Mike Butters announced today that the team has signed defenseman Geoff Kinrade to another Amateur Tryout Contract (ATO).
Kinrade, a 6-foot-0, 195-pound native of Nelson, British Columbia, made his National Hockey League debut last night with the Tampa Bay Lightning. He logged 17:32 of ice time with one shot, one hit, two blocked shots and a -1 rating while playing on a one-game NHL Amateur Tryout Contract.
Kinrade has one goal and four points with a plus-3 rating in eight games with Norfolk this season. The Admirals originally signed him to an American Hockey League Amateur Tryout Contract on March 20. He made his professional debut that night, scoring the game-winning goal on his first professional shot in his first professional game - a 4-2 victory over the Binghamton Senators.
Kinrade finished his collegiate career with Michigan Tech last month. In 150 career games with the Huskies, the blueliner scored 14 goals and added 47 assists with 124 penalty minutes. The 23-year-old served as an alternate captain with Michigan Tech this season. In 38 games, Kinrade scored three goals and added 13 assists with 18 penalty minutes, tying for fourth on the team in scoring and tying for second in assists.
The Admirals will continue a season-ending four-game road trip tonight against the Binghamton Senators. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m., and the game can be heard on 100.5 MAX-FM.
