D.C. United News Release
Washington, D.C. (May 18, 2015) - D.C. United has announced that the club has signed Argentinian forward/midfielder Facundo Coria. He will become available for selection following receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and P-1 Visa. Coria is a free agent and thus eligible to sign with the Black-and-Red outside of the international transfer window.
"We are pleased to welcome Facundo to D.C. United," said D.C. United General Manager Dave Kasper. "He is a talented player who is in the prime of his career, and he will provide us with another quality attacking option."
Coria, 27, has spent most of his career in his native Argentina, most recently with Argentinos Juniors during the 2013-14 season. He previously played with the same club during the 2009-10 season, a breakout campaign in which he scored five goals in 33 appearances. During the 2010 Clausura championship, Coria played in 16 of 19 games and scored four goals en route to helping the club capture its first major title since 1985. He scored the decisive goal in Argentinos Juniors' 2-1 away win against Huracán on the last day of the season to secure the title.
The following year, Coria was sold to Villarreal of the Spanish La Liga before joining Mexican side Pachuca on loan in 2011. He has also played with Argentinian side Club Estudiantes and Chilean side Colo Colo. He began his career with Velez Sarsfield and has also played for Arsenal de Sarandi and Emelec in Ecuador.
