Cyclones snap K-Wings' unbeaten streak

Cincinnati, OH- The Kalamazoo Wings four-game (3-0-1-0) unbeaten streak in regulation was snapped Friday night with a 5-3 loss to the Cincinnati Cyclones at the US Bank Arena.

Capitalizing on their second power-play attempt of the opening period, Josh McFadden gave the Cyclones the lead by rifling a right circle one-timer past Joel Martin 15:56 into the period.

Tying the game in the second period with a power-play goal Nick Sirota notched his first goal of the season 2:17 into the period.

Exploding for three unanswered goals, Cincinnati moved ahead 4-1. Josh Shalla earned his second goal of the season, both occurring against Kalamazoo, midway in the period to regain the lead for the Cyclones.

Anthony Luciani made the K-Wings pay for a turnover in front of their own net 14:20 into the stanza with his 10th goal of the season.

Just over a minute later, Adam Brace (5th) pushed the Cyclones advantage to three goals.

Kalamazoo responded late in the period with their second power-play goal of the net, this time from Matt Caria (8th), who scored on an one-timer with 6.1 seconds remaining in the period.

Inching closing closer 5:55 into the third period, Dustin Cloutier extended his point streak to four games netting his third goal of the season with a wrist shot from the blue line.

Kalamazoo's comeback hopes were dashed midway in the stanza with Shalla's second goal of the night.

The K-Wings will return to Wings Stadium tomorrow, Saturday, January 11th with a 7:30 p.m. face-off versus the Komets during Star Wars Night and Schupan &Sons INC. presents Big Brothers and Big Sisters Night. As part of Saturday's out-of-this world entertainment members of the 501st Garrison will be on hand interacting with the fans.

Regular season ticket prices for home games are $13 and $17.50 for adults and only $7 for kids ages 12 and under. The price for all K-Wings premium night games (all colored ice games and the New Year's Eve game) are just $1 more. Fans can save money by purchasing K-Wings single-game tickets in advance. Tickets purchased on the day of a game increase by $2 (adults only).
