
Road Warriors Propel Past Evansville 5-4

Greenville, SC: Justin Vaive's two-goal game pushed the Road Warriors past the Evansville IceMen by a score of 5-4 on Friday night.
Evansville kicked off the scoring 3:17 into the period when Jeremy Langlois scored on Jeff Malcolm after receiving a pass from Nathan Moon. Eight minutes later, the Icemen brought their lead up to two when Patrick Kennedy fired a wrist shot past Malcolm. With less then four minutes left in the period, Michael St. Croix put the Road Warriors on the board when he was found in the low-slot beating Allen York. The period ended with the Road Warriors down by a 2-1 score.
The Road Warriors tied the game up at two 14:17 into the second period when Justin Vaive scored on a rebound shot from Mike Marcou during a power play. Almost two minutes later, the Icemen retook the lead when Daultan Leveille scored on an Evansville power play. With ten seconds left in the period, Andrew Rowe scored a shorthanded goal after stealing the puck from the goaltender York ending the period tied at three.
The third period started with the Road Warriors scoring three minutes into the period when Jordie Johnston potted a pass from St. Croix putting the Road Warriors up by one. With six minutes left in the period, Vaive scored his second goal of the night and put the Road Warriors up 5-3. With 18.2 seconds left in regulation, Evansville's Leveille scored his second goal of the game to put the Icemen down by one. The Road Warriors held the IceMen and won by a score of 5-4. Malcolm made 42 saves in the win.
The Road Warriors will be back in action tomorrow night when they host the Evansville Icemen. The game starts at 7:00 p.m. at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
