Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI - The Cincinnati Cyclones scored a pair of shorthanded goals 37 seconds apart and collected three goals in a 65 second span in blowing out Johnstown, 8-2, Sunday afternoon. Rookie Tyler Howells netted a pair of goals and added three assists for a five point game, while Jean-Michel Daoust added a hat trick and Barret Ehgoetz added four assists in the cause.
The Cyclones struck for four golas in the opening period, to establish control of the game. Jean-Michel Daoust opened the scoring 6:58 into the contest-his 15th goal of the season and fourth consecutive game with a goal. Rookie Travis Fuller jumped out of the penalty box and added the assist in a two-on-one break.
Cincinnati then scored a pair of shorthanded goals 37 seconds apart. The first came from rookie Tyler Howells with a blast from just outside the blueline. The second score came from Scott Reynolds who took a feed from Barret Ehgoetz cutting through the crease for his seventh goal of the campaign.
Howells then netted a power play goal off a face off from Ehgoetz and Sean Perkins. It was Howells' second goal of the frame and sixth of the season. For Perkins, it was his first point as a professional. The shots on goal in the first period favored Cincinnati, 14-6.
The second period saw Johnstown score the first two goals of the frame and cut the deficit in half, 4-2. Brian Deeth netted his third goal 1:51 in on the power play, while Mike Falk added his fourth at 6:03. The Cyclones responded with the final three goals of the period, to open the lead up to 7-2. Power play goals from Matt Syroczynski (his eighth) and Daoust (his second of the day and 17th of the year) got things started and Thomas Beauregard scored his eleventh on a breakaway with 35 seconds left in the period.
The third period saw Daoust complete the hat trick with a shorthanded goal at 4:32. It was his 18th of the season and completed the scoring at that point. Johnstown won the shots on goal battle, 28-24, but dropped the verdict, 8-2.
Maxime Daigneault picked up his second win of the season, stopping 26 shots-while Ryan Nie took the defeat, stopping 16 shots.
