Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons saw their seven-game winning streak come to an end on Sunday at the hands of the Victoria Salmon Kings who skated away with a 7-3 win on Sunday in front of 4,416 fans at Save Mart Center.
Victoria opened the scoring with a power-play goal 9:03 into the opening period. Ash Goldie won a face-off in the Fresno zone to Jordan Krestanovich, who fed Ryan Wade at the right point. Wade blistered a shot past goaltender Jake Moreland for his third goal of the season.
The Salmon Kings doubled their lead at 16:47. Kiel McLeod won a face-off in the Fresno zone to Wes Goldie, who moved the puck to Dylan Yeo along the blue line. Yeo beat Moreland with a long wrist shot to give Victoria a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.
Fresno got on the scoreboard just over a minute into the second period. Mike Ramsay's shot missed wide of the net, but the puck caromed off the end wall, and rolled in front for Oren Eizenman who beat Billy Thompson to the top shelf at 1:48 to pull the Falcons within one.
Jarrett Konkle pulled the Falcons even with his 11th goal of the season at 6:04. Konkle took a pass from Brady Leisenring and fired a shot past Thompson to tie the score.
But, the Salmon Kings answered with a power-play goal just 1:02 later to retake the lead. Paul Ballantyne took a shot from the left point which trickled past Moreland for his first of the year.
The Falcons tied it again with a 5-on-3 power-play goal at 17:29. John Morlang gathered in a pass from Tyler Kindle and blistered a shot past Thompson from the left-wing circle for his sixth goal in just six games this season.
Marc-Andre Bernier scored two goals for the Salmon Kings 1:57 apart early in the third to put Victoria on top 5-3. He tallied his eighth of the season at 4:58, tapping home the rebound of a Dylan Yeo shot, and then added his ninth at 6:55, redirecting a Ballantyne shot past Moreland to give Victoria a 5-3 lead.
Gary Gladue notched Victoria's third power-play goal of the night, blasting a shot past Moreland from the right point at 16:14.
Darryl Lloyd set the final at 17:33, snapping a shot over Moreland's blocker pad for his first goal of the season.
