Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Cincinnati, OH - The Johnstown Chiefs completed their eight-game road trip with an 8-2 loss Sunday evening against the Cincinnati Cyclones

Cincinnati roared out to a 4-0 lead in the first period thanks in large part to two short handed goals. Tyler Howells beat Ryan Nie with a slap shot from center ice, and Scott Reynolds worked a 2-on-1 with Barret Ehgoetz for the second. Both short handed goals came on the same Johnstown power play. Jean Michel- Daoust scored at even strength, and Howells would also score on the power play.

The Chiefs were able to close the gap to two goals briefly in the second thanks to a power play tally by Brian Deeth, and a strong effort by Mike Falk to put in a rebound off of a Tyler Hirsch shot. Hirsch also assisted on Deeth's goal.

Cincinnati, however, would answer with three more goals of their own; one each by Matt Syroczynski, Daoust, and Thomas Beauregard. Syroczynski's and Daoust's scores came on the power play.

Cincinnati would add one more goal in the third period, Daoust put in the Cyclones' third short handed goal to complete his hat trick.

The Chiefs ended up with one power play goal on five attempts while Ryan Nie saved 16 of Cincinnati's 24 shots.
