Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors lost to the Victoria Salmon Kings Saturday night, 3-2, in front of 5,528, at Rabobank Arena in downtown Bakersfield. Condors G Yutaka Fukufuji made 34 saves and did not allow a goal after the 1:20 mark of the second.
The Salmon Kings (16-7-0, 32 points) took the lead in the first period with two consecutive goals from LW Jordan Krestanovich and D Gary Gladue. Bakersfield (6-15-5, 17 points) got on the board when C Tim Konsorada hammered home his team-high 14th goal of the campaign at the 14:00 mark of the frame. F Todd Griffith and LW Brett Lutes set Konsorada up in the high slot, where he buried the puck in Victoria's net, making the score 2-1. Victoria went back up by two early in the third period when C Kiel McLeod found RW Marc-Andre Bernier on a breakaway. Bernier skated into the Condors zone and snapped the puck past Fukufuji for the Salmon Kings' third tally of the game. But Bakersfield battled back to within one goal again, as F Andrew Ianiero chipped the puck past Victoria G Billy Thompson after RW Jesse Bennefield delivered a perfect cross-slot pass.
The Condors put a flurry of shots on goal late in the third period, but could not get the puck past Thompson before time expired, falling to 0-3-1 against the Salmon Kings this year.
Notes: F Todd Griffith extended his point streak to nine games with an assist on Konsorada's goal tonight. F Eric Sonnenberg played his 200th ECHL game on Wednesday. D Steven Later has recorded an assist in each of the last two games since being activated from the 30-day IR.
The Condors take the road on Friday, Dec. 21 to face off against the Stockton Thunder with game time slated for 7:30 p.m. Bakersfield will stay on the road for a game against the Phoenix RoadRunners on Thursday, Dec. 27 before heading home to host the Thunder at The Nest on Saturday, Dec. 29.
