
Cyclones Overcome Dubuc's Four Goals To Defeat Jackals In Overtime

Elmira, N.Y. - Michael Dubuc had four goals, tying an Elmira Jackals record, on Saturday night at First Arena, but the Cincinnati Cyclones overcame a two-goal third-period deficit before defeating the Jackals in overtime, 5-4. Barret Ehgoetz had the overtime-winning goal for Cincinnati, giving the Cyclones their first win of the season.
Dubuc notched a hat trick in the first period with the first of his goals coming at 1:24 as his shot from the left circle flew past the stick of Cyclones goaltender Marc Cheverie to give the Jackals the 1-0 advantage. Brock McBride recorded the lone assist on each of Dubuc's first two tallies.
Brian O'Hanley recorded his second goal of the year with a slap shot from the high slot at 2:34 of the first, beating Jackals goaltender Marco Cousineau five hole to tie the game at 1-1.
Dubuc's second goal occurred 10:24 of the second period on the power play, as he buried a rebound in the left circle to give the Jackals a 2-1 advantage.
Minutes later, Dubuc scored his third of the first period, nailing a one-timer past Cheverie's glove and giving Elmira a 3-1 lead at 13:07. Justin Donati and Eric Lampe had the assists on Dubuc's hat-trick goal.
Dylan Hunter make it a one-goal game with a goal at 14:20 of the first period, and the teams entered the second period with Elmira leading 3-2.
In the second period, Dubuc scored his fourth goal, fifth of the season, and the Jackals' third power-play goal of the game with a shot from the left circle that flew through the net, being ruled a goal by referee Curtis Marouelli moments later. On the play, Dubuc joined Donati as the only Jackals to score four times in a game since the team joined the ECHL.The goal came at 6:09 of the second period, and Elmira entered the third period with a 4-2 lead.
The Cyclones began their climb back when Matt Pierce redirected a shot on the power play at 3:47 of the third period to make it 4-3 in favor of the Jackals.
Brett Robinson found J.C. Sawyer backdoor at 17:34 of the third period to tie the game 4-4 and send it to overtime.
In the extra session, Ehgoetz banked a shot from behind the net off of Cousineau's skate and into the goal to give the Cyclones the 5-4 victory.
Cousineau stopped 27 of 32 shots in the loss while Cheverie achieved his first professional victory, making 33 saves on 37 shots.
The Jackals take on the Wheeling Nailers next Friday at 7:35 p.m. at First Arena.
