Cyclones Lose In A Shootout, 3-2

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones scored twice in the first twelve minutes of the hockey game Tuesday night. Reading would score single tallies in the second and third and squeak in a shootout goal to take a 3-2 win at U.S. Bank Arena, the first game of a four game home stand for the Cyclones.

The Cyclones would come out striking fast in the first period at the 7:16 mark of the first period with a power play goal, as Jimmy Kilpatrick netted his second of the season from Barret Ehgoetz and Steve Makway. The Cyclones would control the first period after scoring again minutes later at 11:55 on a short handed goal from Mark Van Guilder. It would take late into the second period before the Royals would strike with a goal by Mike Salekin at 16:38. The Royals would score midway through the third period with a goal by Kirk McDonald at 8:22.

Following a scoreless overtime, the contest moved into a shootout and Brock Hootn netted the lone tally for Reading in the bonus frame. Loic Lacasse dropped the shootout decision, despite turning aside 30 shots in the game and three of four in the shootout. James Reimer stopped 30 shots and all five attempts he faced in the shootout..

The Cyclones are 2-3-2 on the season, while Reading is 3-4. The Cyclones continue their four game homestand Wednesday night with Reading and then have a weekend set (Friday and Saturday) versus Elmira. Friday night is Faith Night with the band New Mehtod performing postgame. Saturday is Throwback Night, featuring Stingers jerseys on the players that will be auctioned off after the game. In addition to $7 tickets, there will be hot dogs and pizza slices and selected domestic beers for one dollar.
