Checkers Trade Boisclair To Reign

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - General manager and head coach of the Charlotte Checkers Derek Wilkinson announced today that the team has traded forward Maxime Boisclair to the Ontario Reign for the rights to defenseman John Adams.

Adams, 6-foot-2, 193 pounds, was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres during the third round of the 2002 National Hockey League Entry Draft. This year, he has dressed in four games with the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League registering one assist with four penalty minutes. Last season, the Wayzata, Minn. native played 62 games with the Texas Wildcatters garnering eight goals and 16 assists for 24 points with 80 penalty minutes. Last season, he also suited up in the AHL with both Houston and the Albany River Rats playing in nine and one game respectively logging one assist during his time with Houston.

Boisclair dressed in four games with the Checkers this season tallying two assists. The former Quebec Major Junior Hockey League star skated in 47 games last season with the St. Hyacinthe Top Design of the LNAH scoring 29 goals and 53 assists for 82 points with 75 penalty minutes. He also dressed in 14 games for the Elmira Jackals scoring four goals and 10 assists for 14 points while adding two goals in six post-season contests for the Jackals.

The Checkers are getting ready for their 16th season of play as a member of the ECHL. The next home game will take place on Saturday, Nov. 8 against the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:00 p.m. start. In the team's 15-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 11 times including four consecutive playoff appearances to date.
