Elmira Jackals News Release

Elmira, NY- The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, announced today that they have acquired NHL contracted goaltender Michael Teslak and Florida Everblades defenseman Craig Switzer. The Jackals have also loaned forward Pierre-Luc Faubert to the Binghamton Senators.

The Jackals picked up some stability in goal with the addition of Philadelphia Flyers contracted goaltender Michael Teslak. The native of Fernie, British Columbia played in five games last season for the Philadelphia Phantoms of the AHL, earning a 2.54 goals against average and a .897 save percentage. The 6'2'' 192 pounder played his college hockey at Michigan Tech where he had an impressive 2007-2008 season compiling a 8-11-3 record with a .918 save percentage and a 2.20 goals against average.

"Teslak had an outstanding colligate career, he will be an excellent goaltender for us." Said Jackals Head Coach Steve Martinson.

The Jackals also added skill to their blue line with the addition of Craig Switzer who was acquired from the Florida Everblades. The 6'1'' 200 pound defenseman was selected by the Nashville Predators in the 9th round #275 overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. Switzer finished his collegiate career at the University of New Hampshire in 2007-2008 with six goals and 14 assists.

"Craig is an offensive defenseman that has a lot of skill. He had a lot of points in his colligate career." Martinson said

The Jackals have also loaned Pierre-Luc Faubert to the Binghamton Senators. The Jackals captain has skated in all eight of the Jackals 2008-2009 regular season games netting two goals and five assists for seven points. Last season Faubert had three American Hockey League call ups, this will be his first to Binghamton. Pierre-Luc did skate for the B-Sens this fall in training camp.

"Binghamton has some players out of the line up and this is an excellent opportunity for Luc." Said Jackals Head Coach Steve Martinson.

Those games can be heard on the Jackals hockey radio network (WOKN 99.5 Elmira-102.5 Corning and 98.3 WVIN Bath) starting at 7:10 with the Hill Top Inn Countdown to Face-off.
