Derlago Named ECHL Player of the Week

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The ECHL announced today that Condors LW Mark Derlago has been named the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 27 - Nov. 2.

2008-11-03 Weekly DerlagoDerlago, 22, made his season debut on Wednesday in Ontario and notched a hat trick and an assist to lead the Condors to a 6-3 win against the Reign. The three-goal performance was his fourth career hat trick after he netted three as a rookie last season, tying a Condors record.

The Brandon, Manitoba, native then added two points (1g-1a) in the Condors game against Stockton on Saturday, leaving him tied for the team lead with six points (4g-2a) in two games through his first week of action.

Last season, Derlago led the Condors, as well as all ECHL rookies, with 39 goals, which set a Condors single-season record for ECHL play. He also finished fourth on the team derlago head shotand among the league's rookies with 57 total points in 68 games. Derlago played five games in the American Hockey League last season with the Manitoba Moose, to whom he is currently under contract, registering five points (2g-3a) in four games, before rejoining the Condors for the 2008 Kelly Cup Playoffs. He finished with six points (2g-4a) in six playoff games for Bakersfield.

Derlago was named ECHL Player of the Week (Feb. 4 - Feb. 10) and was a runner-up for the CCM Vector Rookie of the Month (January) last season as well.

On behalf of Derlago, a case of pucks will be donated to a Bakersfield area youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, In Glas Co has donated more than 20,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
