LAKEWOOD, NJ -Behind a historic barrage of hits and home runs, the Brooklyn Cyclones, the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets, clobbered the Jersey Shore BlueClaws 14-5 Tuesday night at FirstEnergy Park to win their seventh straight game.

The Cyclones clobbered a franchise record six home runs to take down the BlueClaws on Tuesday night. Jeremy Vasquez began the barrage with a lead-off home run in the fourth inning, pushing Brooklyn's lead to 4-1. Edgardo Fermin and Ronny Mauricio went back-to-back in the fifth and sixth innings, and Luis Gonzalez mashed a two run home run in the fifth.

Francisco Alvarez's two-out RBI single to center field in the first inning gave Brooklyn a 1-0 lead against Jersey Shore starter Jonathan Hughes. In the third with Brooklyn ahead 2-1, Alvarez drove in Ronny Mauricio with a second run-scoring single in the third inning.

Jersey Shore's Jhailyn Ortiz slammed a solo home run against Jaison Vilera in the second inning to tie the game 1-1. Ortiz has hit 12 home runs this month and leads Philadelphia minor leaguers with 19 long balls.

NEWS AND NOTES

Brooklyn hit six long balls Tuesday, setting a franchise record for most home runs in a game. The Cyclones bested their franchise-tying mark of five which was accomplished on June 20 in Wilmington.

Ronny Mauricio and Edgardo Fermin each tallied their first multi-home run games as a professional.

The Cyclones have won seven games in a row and 11 of the past 14 games.

Jeremy Vasquez extended his hitting streak to nine games, hitting .484 (15-31).
