
Cyclones Celebrate 20th Anniversary with 7-2 Win

CONEY ISLAND, NY - Backed by two long balls and great pitching, the Brooklyn Cyclones, the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets, stumped Jersey Shore with a 7-2 victory Friday night at Maimonides Park.

BIG MOMENTS
Francisco Alvarez returned to the lineup, mashing a solo home run late in the game to provide insurance. His fifth home run came in the eighth inning to push the Cyclones advantage to 6-2.
Down 2-0 in the bottom of the first, Brooklyn's Jeremy Vasquez boomed a solo home run to left field to cut the deficit in half. His RBI single in the second pushed the Cyclones lead to 4-2, and his sac fly in the eighth made it 7-2. LT Struble tripled to the right-center field gap in the bottom of the sixth, plating two to give Brooklyn a 3-1 lead against Jonathan Hughes.
Cam Opp tossed 5 2/3 frames of two-run ball, striking out three and walking one in the victory. The southpaw yielded three hits and just one hit over the next five innings after allowing a two-run home run to Logan O'Hoppe in the top of the first.

NEWS AND NOTES
Cam Opp has allowed two earned runs over his past two starts, covering 11 2/3 innings. Opp had allowed 15 earned runs over his first three starts and his first 8 2/3 innings with Brooklyn.
Jeremy Vasquez hit Brooklyn's first home run of the series, coming in game four after the Cyclones hit 11 in six games in Jersey Shore June 1-6.
The Cyclones and BlueClaws are tied in the series two games apiece.
