Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that they have agreed to terms with defensemen Brett Wysopal and Drew Daniels for the 2013-14 season.

Wysopal, a 25-year-old, LaGrange Park, Illinois native, will embark on his first professional season in North America this fall. A year ago, he collected 30 points (6 goals, 24 assists) in 25 games and a +16 plus/minus rating with Briancon in France. He also contributed five assists during four postseason games en route to the French Cup Championship. Before playing overseas, the five-foot-eight-inch, 175-pound rear guard was a three-year letter winner with the Ferris State Bulldogs - where he amassed 45 points (7 goals, 38 assists) in 121 career games. In 2011-12, he helped guide the Bulldogs to the CCHA Regular Season Title. While in school, he was a teammate of current Cyclone and former Bulldog Mike Embach. Prior to Ferris State, Wysopal played in 21 games with Colorado College.

"Brett is a smaller sized defenseman, but can skate like the wind," said Cyclones Head Coach Ben Simon. "He went over to Europe last year and had some great success. From all reports, he is a very hard worker and is ready to get it going over here. And anytime you have a friend whom you've played with in the past, like he has with [Embach], it's a big help for your transition."

Daniels, a Suffern, New York native, comes to the Queen City after beginning his pro career with the Allen Americans (CHL) a season ago. In 2012-13, he logged 63 games and posted 14 points (2 goals, 12 assists). He also contributed a pair of assists in 12 playoff contests on the way to the CHL Championship. Prior to going pro, the 24-year-old rear guard was a three-year letter winner at Northeastern University; he notched 24 points (7 goals, 17 assists) in 104 career collegiate games and was named an Assistant Captain for the 2011-12 season. Daniels was a seventh-round selection of the San Jose Sharks in 2008.

"Drew had great success last year playing for a championship team in Allen," said Simon, "All the people I talked to about Drew said the same thing - he is a tremendous skater who can also play a physical style. We're excited to see him use that to his advantage this season."
