High-Scoring Haddad Returns to Gwinnett
September 4, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release
DULUTH, Ga. - Joey Haddad, a key component to the Gwinnett Gladiators offense for the past two seasons, has re-signed with the team for the 2013-14 season.
Haddad (pronounced HUH-DAD), 24, racked up 19 goals and 14 assists (33 points) in 44 games with Gwinnett last season. Despite missing time with an injury, the Sydney, Nova Scotia native still finished fourth on the team in goals, and had at least one point in 16 of 24 games from February through March. He also scored four goals in ten playoff games for the Gladiators.
"Joey Haddad is a premier power forward in our league," said Gladiators Head Coach Rick Emmett. "He garners a lot of attention down low on the ice, which makes him invaluable for his linemates when it comes to creating space. When he's on his game there isn't anyone better at this level."
"It's definitely really exciting to have a team like Gwinnett and a community that I'm really comfortable in," said Haddad. "Like all of us we have goals to move on to the next level, but as far as having a good base to start at I couldn't ask for a better place than Gwinnett."

The 6'2", 200 pound forward split his 2011-12 season between Gwinnett and two American Hockey League teams, finishing with 17 goals and 18 assists (35 points) in 43 games as a Gladiator. He also scored one goal in 11 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs, and was held without a point in eight games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
Prior to that, Haddad spent two seasons jumping between the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL).
Haddad becomes the eighth player signed by the Gladiators for the upcoming season. The team previously locked-up defensemen Devon Krogh and Jonathan Narbonne, as well as forwards Evan Bloodoff, C.J. Lee, Dirk Southern, Jeremie Malouin, and Kurtis Bartliff.
The Gladiators are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and are affiliated with the Phoenix Coyotes of the NHL. All home games are played at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
Atlanta's only professional hockey franchise opens their 11th season on October 18th against division rival Greenville. For all the latest team news, contests, and more visit GwinnettGladiators.com, or "like" the Gladiators on Facebook, and follow the team on Twitter.
