IceMen Agree to Terms with 6th Defenseman Loren Barron

EVANSVILLE, Ind-- The Evansville IceMen have agreed to terms with defenseman Loren Barron for the 2013-14 season. The IceMen now have six defenseman on the preseason roster with their latest acquisition. The team has 17 players (nine forwards, six defensemen and two goaltenders) on roster for 2013-14 with exactly one month to go until the team reports for training camp.

"I'm excited that Coach Pyle is going to be working with me to take that next step," Barron said. "Coming into camp, I hope to make a big impression and get prepared to have a great season." Barron, 24, played the last four seasons at Quinnipiac University of the ECAC. Last season, Barron played in 43 games and accumulated 16 points on three goals and 13 assists for the Bobcats as they advanced as far as the Frozen Four. In his four-year Quinnipiac career, Barron appeared in 158 games, notching 66 points on 16 goals and 50 assists.

Prior to his collegiate days, Barron suited up for the Indiana Ice (2008-09) of the USHL, where he played in 57 games and tallied 21 points on three goals and 18 assists. He also appeared in 46 games with the Valley Jr. Warriors of the Eastern Junior Hockey League from 2007-08.

The 2013-14 season will be Barron's rookie campaign.
