Williamsport Crosscutters News Release

The Crosscutters lost their third straight Friday night with a 5-2 defeat to the Batavia Muckdogs.

The loss is Williamsport's fourth in a row to Batavia.

Yan Carlos Olmo and Chace Numata drove in the lone Cutters runs in the second inning. Only two Crosscutters would reach scoring position after that. The last 13 Crosscutters players to come to the plate were retired in order.

Jeb Stefan got the start for Williamsport. A three-run home run to David Washington in the second inning tarnished an otherwise solid start. The line-drive blast to right field gave Batavia a 3-0 lead.

In the bottom of the inning, Olmo hit an RBI-infield single with the bases loaded. Then, Numata drove in Larry Greene with a sac fly to center field.

Batavia upped the lead to 4-2 in the fifth. With a runner at first, Danny Stienstra hit a blooper out to right field. Olmo tried to make a diving catch, but was unsuccessful. The ball rolled behind him and Stienstra reached second with an RBI-double.

The Muckdogs took a 5-2 lead in the eighth, when Jacob Wilson singled in Patrick Wisdom.

Williamsport's loss drops their record to 27-44 and their seventh in nine games against the Muckdogs.

The Cutters try to avoid the sweep Saturday against Batavia. First pitch is at 7:05. Every Cutters game can be heard on ESPN Radio 104.1 FM, ESPN 1050 AM, or online at crosscutters.com.
