Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
GAME HIGHLIGHTS: In his Crosscutters debut, starting pitcher Miguel Matos had a quality outing, however, it was not enough as Williamsport dropped their second in a row to the Lowell Spinners 5-2 Wednesday night.
Matos, who spent the first part of this season and all of last season with the Gulf Coast Phillies, pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowed one run, on four hits with seven strikeouts. Sean Grieve pitched the next 1 1/3 innings, yielding two runs on three hits and Charles Vartanian gave up another two runs in three innings.
The Cutters bats fell silent managing just five hits and stranding eleven runners. OF D'Arby Myers had two of the Cutters five hits. OF Steve Susdorf also collected a pair of hits and drove in a run.
The Cutters look to avoid the sweep as they battle the Lowell Spinners in game three of their series Thursday night. The game can be heard on ESPN 1050AM and 104.1FM and at www.crosscutters.com.
