FOR ALTOONA: RHP Brad Lincoln will make his 10th start of the season on Monday night. Lincoln has not allowed a run in his last 19.1 innings of work. Should Lincoln toss 4.0 scoreless innings against Erie, he will hold the Altoona Curve franchise record for most consecutive scoreless innings in team history. Franklin Perez currently holds the record of 23.0 consecutive scoreless innings, establishing the mark from June 13-July 27, 2006...Lincoln will make his fourth start against the SeaWolves this season. He is 0-1 with a 1.93 ERA in 14.0 innings of work. He has struck out 20 Erie batters in that span. Lincoln was the Pirates' first round draft choice (fourth overall) in the June 2006 draft from the University of Houston.
FOR ERIE: RHP Pat Stanley will make his second career Double-A start. Stanley spent the last three seasons pitching in the Independent and Frontier Leagues. (2006&2007 with Washington (FRN)...led Frontier League in K's with Wild Things in 2006 en route to going 8-4 with a 2.72 ERA that year) and 2008 with Newark (IND). Stanley led the Atlantic League in strikeouts last year (151). In his Double-A debut, Stanley tossed 5.0 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits at Harrisburg. Stanley was originally drafted in the 16th round of the June 2004 draft by Colorado out of Pace University (NY)
LAST TIME OUT: Altoona was swept in a three-game series at Trenton, dropping the final contest 4-1 on Sunday afternoon. LHP Kyle Bloom was once again the tough-luck loser, permitting two earned runs over 5.2 innings of work. 1B Jason Delaney drove in Altoona's only run. The Curve is now a franchise worst 19 games under .500.
CURVE/ERIE SERIES: The Altoona Curve and Erie SeaWolves will meet for the 12th time this year of the scheduled 25 total meetings. The âWolves are the Curve's most common opponent in 2009...Erie has won 9 of the first 11 contests...Erie OF Max Leon has been a Curve killer hitting .379 against Altoona this year (11x29) with seven of his 11 hits being extra base hits...Curve SS Brian Friday owns a .500 average (8x16) in the season series for the Curve.
âPEN OUT OF INK? A usually solid Curve bullpen has stumbled recently. The Curve bullpen has given up 52 runs in 57.1 innings for an 8.16 ERA.
POWER OUTAGE: The Altoona Curve are hitting just .205 as a team over their last 10 games (62x302) and have scored only 29 runs during that span (2.9/game).
FRIGID FRIDAY: Curve SS Brian Friday has cooled off recently. Friday is hitting just .233 (7x30) in his last nine games. His average has fallen off 40 points from .359 to its current .319 mark.
