Curve Pull Away Late in 10-2 Win over SeaWolves

ERIE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve rolled out of the All-Star break with a 10-2 win over the ErieSeaWolves on Thursday night at UPMC Park.
The Curve (46-39) scored seven runs over the last three innings to pull away from the Erie SeaWolves (41-47) and picked up their fourth consecutive win.
Eight different Curve players recorded at least one hit and seven different hitters drove in at least one run.
Altoona claimed the lead for good with an RBI double by Bralin Jackson in the top of the second, pulling ahead, 2-1.
Stephen Alemais drove an RBI single in the fifth, one of his three hits on the night, to open the Curve lead to 3-1.
After a run in the sixth inning by Erie, Cole Tucker brought in Tyler Gaffney with a sacrifice fly to push the lead to 4-2. Will Craig scored on an error in the top of the eighth inning to extend the lead to three runs.
In the ninth, Craig grounded into a fielder's choice fielding error by second baseman Will Maddox, allowing Gaffney to score.
Later in the inning, Alfredo Reyes drove a two-run double in his first at-bat of the game and Logan Hill added two runs on a single to open the Curve lead to 10-2.
Altoona starter Eduardo Vera (Win, 2-3) allowed two runs over his six innings on seven hits, stranding seven runners on base. Tate Scioneaux (Hold, 3) allowed one hit in two scoreless innings and Matt Eckelman threw a scoreless ninth.
The Curve opened a 1-0 lead in the first inning against SeaWolves starter Liarvis Breto (Loss, 2-2) with a sacrifice fly by Bryan Reynolds, but Erie answered with a run in the bottom of the inning to even the score.
Erie committed a season-high five errors defensively, leading to a total of three unearned Altoona runs.
Alemais went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI, a walk and two runs scored. Tucker finished the game 2-for-2 with two walks, a double, an RBI and two runs scored.
With the win, the Curve remained in second place in the Eastern League Western Division standings, 3.5 games behind first-place Akron and 1.5 games ahead of third-place Harrisburg.
The Curve and SeaWolves continue the series with a double-header on Friday night. Left-hander Cam Vieaux (5-1, 2.08) will start the first game for Altoona, and right-hander Scooter Hightower (0-0, 7.36) will start the second game. The double-header is scheduled to begin at 4:35 p.m. at UPMC Park.
