Harrisburg Senators News Release
Everyone in the Altoona Curve starting lineup collected at least one base hit, and the Curve defeated the Harrisburg Senators on Friday night at Metro Bank Park, 7-4. The game was played in front of a crowd of 5431.
Altoona (14-6) improved to 4-1 against the Senators (10-11) on the season, and finished April with the best record in the Eastern League. Jared Hughes (4-1) picked up the win for the Curve, and Daniel Moskos earned his fifth save. Aaron Thompson (1-2) gave up just two runs in six and two thirds innings for the Sens, but took the loss.
The Senators scored their four runs on eight hits, including a two-run home run by Danny Espinosa. Brad Coon and Michael Martinez picked up the other two RBI, Martinez' coming on a double in the second, and Coon's coming on a groundout in the eighth. Chris Marrero recorded the only multi-hit game for the Sens, and also scored their first run. Coon, Jesus Valdez, Leonard Davis, and Ofilio Castro all collected one hit apiece.
The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Senators, and sent them back below .500. The team will have a chance to even its record once again tomorrow night, in game two of the series at Metro Bank Park. The first pitch is scheduled for 7 PM, with Tom Milone (1-0) slated to pitch for the Senators, against Derek Hankins (1-0) of the Curve. The game will be broadcast locally on 1460AM The Ticket, and on the internet through www.senatorsbaseball.com. The broadcast begins at 6:45 PM.
