Akron RubberDucks News Release

Altoona's Will Craig drove in a pair of runs, and Arden Pabst drilled his first Double-A homer, as the Curve captured a 6-4 win over the Akron RubberDucks in the opener of a crucial showdown between the EL West leaders Friday night at People's Natural Gas Field in Altoona, Pa.

Turning Point

The Curve (58-49) scored six times in fourth inning against Kyle Dowdy (3-5). Craig cracked a two-run single to pad his league-leading RBI total to 88. Logan Hill followed with a two-run single to extend the lead to 4-0, and Pabst capped the rally with a long homer to left, his first of the season, to make it 6-0.

Mound Presence

Eduardo Vera (5-3) worked 5.2 innings and struck out five to claim the win. It was Vera's second win of the season against Akron. Dowdy (3-5) suffered the loss in his Indians organization debut. He left after the six-run fourth.

Duck Tales

Daniel Salters launched a solo homer off Vera in the fifth, his fourth of the year. In the sixth, Connor Marabell's sacrifice fly and Ka'ai Tom's RBI single closed the gap to 6-3. Altoona's Yeudy Garcia came in for Vera and shut down the rally. The RubberDucks (65-46) notched a run off Garcia in the eighth to pull to within 6-4, and had runners on second and third, but closer Matt Eckelman got Salters on a fly ball to strand the potential tying runs on base.
