Altoona Curve News Release
(Bowie, MD)- The Bowie BaySox rallied from a 6-2 deficit on Wednesday night to pick up an 8-7 come from behind victory over the Altoona Curve at Prince George's Stadium in Bowie.
With the Curve leading 6-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Guillermo Rodriguez led off the inning with a double. Robert Valido followed with a walk to put runners at first and second with nobody out. Jonathan Tucker slapped a run scoring single to left, driving in Rodriguez as the lead was cut to 6-3. With runners at first and second, Miguel Abreu laid down a bunt that went up the first base line. Curve pitcher Kyle Bloom and catcher Steve Lerud went up the line, hoping for the ball to go foul. When it didn't, home plate was left open and Valido tried to score. The throw from Lerud to Bloom, who was running back to the plate, went behind Bloom and back to the wall. Valido scored and Tucker tried to score from first base. The throw from Bloom to Lerud went passed the Curve catcher and wound up in shallow center-field. That not only enabled Tucker to score but Abreu did as well, tying the game at six.
Adam Donachie's sacrifice fly off losing pitcher Eric Krebs (2-4) provided the ultimate winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. The win moves Bowie's record to 19-18 on the season, while the Curve sees their record drop to 12-26 on the season.
James Boone led the Curve attack with three hits and two RBI's, while Jonel Pacheco continues to swing a hot stick, going 3-for-5 with a RBI. Pacheco has 13 hits in his last 25 at-bats (.520).
Thefinal game of the series is set for 7:05 on Thursday night. Righty Brad Lincoln (0-3 2.87) goes for the Curve. Bowie will counter with righty John Mariotti (0-1 8.68).
