
Curve Announce Season-Ending Awards

CURVE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve announced their season-ending awards prior to Saturday night's game at Peoples Natural Gas Field, a class headlined by MVP second baseman Max Moroff and Pitcher of the Year Chad Kuhl.

Unsung Hero - Adam Frazier
Moroff has seen a breakout season in 2015. Through Friday, he has posted a .297 batting average, the seventh-highest in the Eastern League. He also ranks among the league leaders in games played (127, T-1st), runs scored (75, 1st), hits (145, T-1st), total bases (202, 2nd), walks (65, 3rd) and on-base percentage (.377, 5th).
Yesterday, Moroff was named to the Eastern League Post-Season All-Star Team. He was also selected to participate in the 2015 Eastern League All-Star Game at Portland's Hadlock Field in July. He went on a 30-game on-base streak across April and May, the longest in the Eastern League this season. Moroff was the 16th-round pick of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2012 MLB Draft.
Kuhl has established himself as the ace of the Altoona pitching staff over the course of the 2015 season. He leads the team with 11 wins and 15 quality starts, allowing more than four earned runs in only four of his 25 starts.
A native of Bear, Del., Kuhl has been at his best down the stretch as the Curve fight for a postseason spot. In his last ten starts since July 5, he is 6-1 with a 1.38 ERA. He had a 23.1-inning scoreless streak ended last night, just two outs shy of the Altoona franchise record. Kuhl was selected by the Pirates in the ninth round of the 2013 MLB Draft out of the University of Delaware.
Medina has made more appearances than any pitcher on the Curve staff this season, pitching in 42 games. His nine saves are the most of any pitcher currently on the staff. Opposing batters have hit just .201 against the Maracay, Venezuela native, the third-lowest of any reliever in the Eastern League.
Frazier joined the Altoona roster in May and hit his way into his second-career All-Star selection after he batted .424 in the month of June. reached enough at-bats to qualify for the league leaderboard on Aug. 20 and has sat atop the Eastern League in batting average ever since. He currently holds a .328 average, the second-highest in all of Double-A baseball.
Frazier is a native of Athens, Ga. and was selected by Pittsburgh in the sixth round in 2013 after an All-American career at Mississippi State.
