Altoona Curve News Release
(ALTOONA, PA) -- A daylong rain Monday in Central Pennsylvania forced the postponement of the Altoona Curve-Reading Phillies game at Blair County Ballpark.
The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Monday, August 25 at 6:05 p.m.
Despite the rainout, William "The Refrigerator" Perry still entertained at the ballpark. The folk hero from the 1985 World Champion Chicago Bears signed autographs for Curve players and fans between 5:30 and 6 p.m. The former defensive tackle/running back was then a guest on the "Off the Tracks" Pre-Game Show presented by Cintas. "The Fridge" appeared at the ballpark thanks to Boyer Refrigeration, fittingly enough.
The Curve and the Reading Phillies are scheduled to play Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. Each team will go with the pitchers who were slated to pitch Monday. Altoona lefty Mike Connolly (2-1, 2.79) will face Reading right-hander Taylor Buchholz (3-1, 3.38).
Prior to the game, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Tommy Maddox will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. During the contest, the inflatable mascot act known as the Celebratoons will entertain compliments of WTAJ-TV 10.
The BCB gates will open at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
