Evansville Otters News Release
Perry Cunningham pitched 8.1 innings of one run baseball as the Chillicothe Paints won the getaway game of the series 3-1 against the Evansville Otters
The Otters got on the board in the first inning for the third straight night as Steve Martin homered to lead off the game for the second time in the series. The Paints came back with two in the bottom half of the inning. After Darren Heath led off with a walk, Andre Simpson got the next two outs of the inning. With Heath on second, John Ramistella, Beau Blacken, and Mike Spry all singled to give the Paints a 2-1 lead.
Chillicothe extended the lead to 3-1 in the third when Ramistella scored on a wild pitch.
Cunningham (2-0) took over from there, allowing just one Otters baserunner into scoring position from until the eighth inning. In that inning, the Otters had runners on first and second with one out when it appeared Scott Ward's liner into right would drop. However, it hung up just long enough for Mike Spry to make the catch and double Trask Munoz off first to end the inning.
Andre Simpson (1-3) took the hard luck loss for the Otters. Simpson threw a complete game scattering nine hits, striking out nine.
The Otters now come home for six games against the Windy City ThunderBolts and the Gateway Grizzlies starting Tuesday night with a Deaconess Hospital Two For Tuesday. All fans who buy their tickets at the gate prior to the game can get a buy one get one free ticket courtesy of Deaconess Hospital.
