ROCKFORD, Ill. – Joe Barbosa was three outs away from a shutout, but the Mid-Missouri Mavericks rallied for three ninth-inning runs for the second straight night and beat the Rockford RiverHawks, 3-2.

The Mavs took two of three from the ‘Hawks. On Sunday, Mid-Mo rallied to beat Rockford, 7-5.

The RiverHawks scored single runs in the fourth and sixth innings. In the sixth, Rockford started the inning with back-to-back singles, but scored only once when Olmo Rosario was doubled off of first base on a fly ball for the third out.

Barbosa retired 11 in a row from the fifth through eighth innings and struck out six, but settled for his fourth straight no-decision to begin the year. Barbosa gave up a single to Eli Albertson and a double to Brent Metheny to start the ninth inning.

Adam Kroft (1-2) came out of the bullpen and gave up a game-tying single to Thomari Story-Harden. Harden singled in the game-winning runs on Sunday. He is 10-for-24 with four RBI against Rockford this year.

Donnie Poles drove in Story-Harden with the winning run on a forceout. 6

Mid-Missouri's Steve Soja and Cooper Eddy combined on a four-hitter and retired the final 11 RiverHawks in order. Soja (2-2) struck out six in eight innings. Eddy recorded his first save.

The RiverHawks hit the road for three in Richmond, beginning at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday. They're back home for nine games, beginning with Axberg Heating and Air/Continental Coupons Koozie Night at 7:05 p.m. Friday. The RiverHawks are the defending champions of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 13th season.
