Rocky Mountain Rage News Release

Amarillo - Rocky Mountain Rage captain Brent Cullaton, fresh off being named Northern Conference MVP during Wednesday's Central Hockey League All-Star Game at Broomfield Event Center, tallied five points (1g-4a) to lead his club to a 6-3 win over the Amarillo Gorillas at the Amarillo Civic Center.

Rocky Mountain jumped to a quick 2-1 first period lead behind power play goals from Cullaton and Nathan Rosychuk sandwiched around a goal from the Gorillas' Matt Miller. At 15:10 of the first, Matt Frick then scored his first of the season off a slapshot to give the Rage a 3-1 lead through 20 minutes.

The most pivotal part of the game occurred early in the middle period. Amarillo pulled within one at 3:32 off a goal from Shaun Arvai. The Gorillas then came right back into the Rocky Mountain zone off the ensuing face-off but were denied by a spectacular save from Rage netminder Terry Dunbar. Cullaton scooped up the rebound, raced the other way, and Daymen Rycroft scored seconds later off a rebound. Instead of a 3-3 game had Dunbar not robbed Amarillo's Jason Chafe, Rocky Mountain led 4-2 at 4:10 of the frame. The teams then traded power play goals over the next four minutes, and the Rage headed to the third leading 5-3.

Rocky Mountain put the game out of reach just 31 seconds into the final period when Trevor Weisgerber crashed the net and swept in a rebound off an initial shot from Cullaton for the eventual 6-3 final.

Having not played since Dec. 1 due to a 15-game league suspension, Dunbar made 35 saves to pick up the win. Cullaton's four assists added to his league-leading total, which now stands at 49 helpers. And not only does Rycroft lead the CHL with 28 goals overall, he now has a league-best 13 power play tallies and tonight tied Mississippi's Rick Kozak for the league lead by picking up his sixth game-winning goal of the season.

The Rage swept the five-game season series from the Gorillas and upped their record to 25-5-3 with 53 points, seven points ahead of the idle Colorado Eagles atop the Northwest Division.

Rocky Mountain returns home to face the Eagles tomorrow at Broomfield Event Center at 7:05 p.m. when the first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free Rage cowbell courtesy of Insight Lasik. The two Front Range rivals squared-off last Saturday in Loveland where Rocky Mountain had a three-game winning streak against the defending President's Cup Champions snapped, 6-5. The Rage lead the 12-game season series with a mark of 3-1-1.

Tickets are available for not only tomorrow's game but also the remainder of the 2007-08 regular season with prices ranging from $18 - $43 per seat (parking included). Fans can purchase tickets at Broomfield Event Center's box office or through Ticketmaster by logging-on to www.Ticketmaster.com, calling (303) 830-TIXS, or visiting any Ticketmaster retail outlet.
