Micah Hoffpauir hit his 20th home run as the Iowa Cubs defeated the New Orleans Zephyrs 5-1 in front of 8,663 people on Wednesday night at Principal Park. Felix Pie singled in the first inning before Hoffpauir launched a shot onto the right field party deck for a 2-0 Cubs lead. Iowa took a 3-0 lead before the inning would end when Casey McGehee's doubled and Josh Kroeger's hit an RBI single. Hoffpauir went 2-for-3 and scored three runs in the win.

The Zephyrs only run came in the fourth inning when Raul Casanova hit an RBI single to score Chris Aguila to trim the Cubs' lead 3-1. McGehee hit his second double of the night in the fifth inning and drove in Hoffpauir to up the Cubs lead 4-1. In the seventh inning Hoffpauir scored his third and final run of the game when Bobby Scales singled for the 5-1 final. J.R. Mathes picked up his seventh win, allowing one run on five hits over eight innings of work. New Orleans' Nelson Figueroa was tagged with the loss, going 6.1 innings, while allowing 10 hits.
