New York Boulders News Release
(Ramapo, NY) - Trailing 10-9 entering the bottom of the eighth, Phil Cuadrado's two-run blast was the deciding factor as the Rockland Boulders beat the Quebec Capitales 12-10 in the second game of a four game set Sunday evening from Provident Bank Park.
After both teams found the scoreboard in the first inning, Quebec took a 4-1 lead with three runs in the second off Boulders' starter Will Hasset. In his first start since being activated from the DL, Hassett didn't make it out of the second inning.
But Quebec's fast start didn't faze the Boulders. In the third, Rockland erupted for six runs off of Quebec starter John Mariotti.
After Keith Brachold, Ryan Scoma and Phillip Cuadrado all reached safely, Ryan Mollica's triple cleared the bases and tied the score at four. The Boulders then went ahead 6-4 on back-to-back doubles by Matt Nandin and Cole Kraft.
Quebec battled back with five runs in the fourth, four of which were unearned, as the Boulders committed four errors in the inning, allowing Les Capitales to take a 9-7 lead.
The score remained the same until the seventh when Quebec scored a run, but the Boulders responded with two runs of their own on a two-run single by Landis Wilson.
That set the stage for Cuadrado's heroics, a two out, two-run homer that gave Rockland the lead for good.
Garrett Johnson (2-1) picked up the win in relief, while Guillaume Duguay (1-3) took the loss.
