
Crushers Sweep Doubleheader against Grizzlies

AVON, OH - The Lake Erie Crushers swept the Gateway Grizzlies in a doubleheader Wednesday night at All Pro Freight Stadium.
Lake Erie defeated Gateway 10-2 in game one before beating the Grizzlies 12-3 in game two.
The Grizzlies (46-37) and Crushers (49-33) had their series opener Tuesday night, which forced the doubleheader.
On Tuesday night, Gateway scored two runs on a TJ Bennett double in the first inning and Emmanuel Quiles hit a two-run double with two outs in the second inning for Lake Erie.
The game resumed on Wednesday with the score tied 2-2 in the third inning. Lake Erie responded with eight runs on the day, scoring two in the fourth inning on five walks and six runs in the fifth inning on four hits.
In game two, Lake Erie jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning before Gateway responded for three runs of their own in the fourth inning to tie the game at 3-3.
Bennett drove in a run on a single, Michael Wing recorded an RBI double and Ben Waldrip picked up a sacrifice fly.
With the score tied 3-3, Lake Erie scored the next nine runs in the game to sweep the doubleheader.
The Grizzlies will try to avoid the series sweep Thursday night against the Crushers. Right-hander Ja'Vaun West (7-2) makes the start for Gateway at 6:05 CST.
