
Crush announce opening roster

DENVER -- The Colorado Crush today announced their 2004 opening day roster, featuring 20 players on the active roster and nine players on injured reserve.
Only five of the 20 players on the active roster appeared in games for the Crush in their inaugural 2003 season. The five are QB John Dutton, OS Damien Harrell, WR/DB Ahmad Hawkins, FB/LB Saul Patu and OL/DL Bryant Shaw.
Players that failed to make the final roster include WR/LB Darrin Chiaverini, OL/DL Aaron Hamilton, OL/DL Don Klein, QB Matt Lytle, QB Jay McDonough, OL/DL Jerry Montgomery, WR/DB Thal Woods and WR/DB Sam Young.
AFL rules state that each team is limited to a 24-player roster, with 20 players declared active for each game. The league's mandatory cut down date to reach the regular season 24-man roster is today.
Today also marks the first day teams are permitted to sign players to their practice squad. Each team may carry up to four players on their practice squad in addition to their 24-man roster. The Crush will announce their practice squad on Tuesday.
