Lincoln Stars News Release
The United States Hockey League (USHL) announced Monday that Stars defenseman Cole Crusberg-Roseen has been named Defenseman of the Week for Week 8 of the 2022-23 season.
The Western Michigan commit scored a goal and added a pair of assists in the Stars' weekend sweep over Omaha and Des Moines. His goal on Friday was the eventual game-winner in a 5-2 victory over the Lancers and he also recorded an assist in both games, including a secondary apple on the game-winner on Saturday.
Crusherg-Roseen has fired a high volume of shots on net in recent weeks. His 13 shots over the last four games leads all Stars' skaters and he has scored in two-of-the-last-three games. Overall, Crusberg-Roseen is tied for first among Stars' defenseman with two goals and is second with seven points.
His transition to the USHL from the North American Hockey League has been a seamless one after a great season in 2021-22. The Stratham, New Hampshire, native scored 20 goals and added 15 assists in 60 games with the Minnesota Wilderness before recording six points (3+3) in nine games in the Robertson Cup Playoffs.
Stars head coach Rocky Russo has shown his confidence in Crusberg-Roseen this year by primarily using him as the quarterback and lone defenseman on the second power-play unit. Russo recently said that Crusberg-Roseen played his "best hockey of the season" two weekends ago after wins against Omaha and Sioux City when he scored and fired eight shots. Crusberg-Roseen feels that he has become more comfortable with the adjustment of jumping up to the USHL from the NAHL.
"Just letting it come to me and trusting myself has made things easier," Crusberg-Roseen said. "The past few weekends I have been adjusting to the pace, adjusting to the playing style and recently I have been trusting myself and have been 100-percent on the plays that I have been making."
Crusberg-Roseen is the third member of the Stars to win a USHL Player of the Week honor, joining Cameron Whitehead (Goaltender of the Week, Week 1) and Boston Buckberger (Defenseman of the Week, Week ). To learn more about the rest of this week's USHL Players of the Week please visit USHL.com.
