Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release
DUBUQUE, IA - Dubuque Fighting Saints defenseman Jayden Jubenvill announced today his commitment to continue his hockey and education career at the University of North Dakota. Jubenvill, 19, is in the midst of his first season with the Fighting Saints and has six points, all assists, in his first 11 games played in the USHL.
Jubenvill becomes the second Fighting Saint in the last week to announce his collegiate commitment, joining forward Noah Powell who announced his intentions to play at Ohio State last week. With Jubenvill's commitment, every Dubuque defenseman is now committed to play Division 1 college hockey.
"Jayden has proven himself and his ability to play at a high level," said Fighting Saints Head Coach Kirk MacDonald. "He's been an elite two-way defender for us all season. He's earned this opportunity to go to an elite program with the effort he's put in. We're super excited for him"
Jubenvill joined the Fighting Saints after being selected with the 42nd overall pick in the third round of the 2022 USHL Phase II Draft. His six assists currently rank second on the Fighting Saints. He also ranks second on the Fighting Saints in plus/minus with a +3 rating.
"Jayden came to Dubuque with a goal in mind, to secure a scholarship to a division one school," said Fighting Saints General Manager and President of Hockey Operations Kalle Larsson. "We are happy for him and his family to commit to a top tier program such as North Dakota. He is a mobile defenseman that can play in all situations. His ability to break up plays and start transition going the other way is excellent."
Jubenvill will join former Fighting Saint Riese Gaber with the Fighting Hawks. Jubenvill and Gaber have strikingly similar paths to North Dakota. Both are natives of Gilbert Plaines, Manitoba, they each played for the Parkland Rangers AAA program, then advanced to the MJHL with Dauphin Kings. From there, both were selected in the 3rd round of the USHL Phase II Draft by the Fighting Saints before committing to play for the Fighting Hawks.
