Syracuse, NY - The Syracuse Crunch rallied for a 3-2 victory over the St. John's IceCaps on Wednesday night at the War Memorial.

Syracuse Crunch goalie Kristers Gudlevskis earned the win, stopping 26 of 28 shots on goal. St. John's IceCaps netminder Tyler Beskorowany stopped 31 of 34 shots faced. The Crunch were able to convert on one of seven power-play opportunities while the penalty kill unit shut down all five St. John's man advantages.

This was the final game of the season series and the win brings the Crunch's record against the IceCaps to 2-2-0-0 and boosts the team's overall record to 26-29-4-6 this season.

St. John's took an early lead at 4:14 into the first period. A pass from IceCaps center Kyle MacKinnon found John Albert who was able to put the puck past Gudlevskis for a 1-0 lead. Defenseman Ben Chiarot increased the IceCaps lead to 2-0 during four-on-four play after scoring on a feed from right winger Andrew Gordon. Forward Jerome Samson was credited with the second assist.

Crunch forward Brett Connolly found the back of the net just 32 seconds into the second frame, bringing the score to 2-1. Left winger Dalton Smith sent the puck to Connolly who was able to put it past Beskorowany, scoring his 18th goal of the season. Captain Mike Angelidis earned the second assist.

Angelidis tied the game at two on a power play at the 2:43 mark of the third period, scoring on a rebound off of a shot from Cedric Paquette. Vladislav Namestnikov tallied a point with the secondary assist. The game-winning goal came with 2:32 remaining in the third period from Crunch defensemen Artem Sergeev. Sergeev scored his third goal of the season while the Crunch were shorthanded on a cross-ice pass from Namestnikov on a 2-on-1 breakaway.

The Crunch host the Adirondack Phantoms at 7 p.m. this Friday at the War Memorial Arena. The Crunch also play at home on Saturday night at 7 p.m. against the Binghamton Senators.

CRUNCHABLES: With a goal tonight, Brett Connolly now has points in all four games against St. John's (1g, 3a)... This is only the second time the IceCaps have lost in regulation when leading after two periods and the third time the Crunch have come-from-behind to win when trailing after two... Sergeev's shorthanded goal was the Crunch's first man-down goal since Namestnikov's tally against Rochester March 8...It is Syracuse's eighth shorthanded goal this season... It is Sergeev's second game-winning goal of the season.
