Syracuse Crunch News Release
Syracuse, NY- The Syracuse Crunch fell to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 3-2 tonight at the War Memorial Arena.
Alex Killorn extended his league-leading goal streak to six games but the Syracuse Crunch dropped their overall record to 17-7-1-3 and 6-4-1-1 at the War Memorial.
Penguins right wing Paul Thompson opened the scoring beating Crunch netminder Dustin Tokarski with a power-play goal 3:57 into the contest. Crunch forward Killorn evened the score with his 10th goal of the season but the Penguins regained their lead just 14 seconds later with a goal from Joey Mormina.
Trevor Smith extended the Penguins lead to two goals with the eventual game-winner at the 10:20 mark of the second stanza. Tokarski's kick save rebounded to the stick of Smith who lifted the puck into an open net for a 3-1 Penguins lead.
Crunch center Tyler Johnson brought the Crunch within one with his 18th goal of the season. Johnson knocked the rebound of a Radko Gudas shot past Penguins goaltender Jeff Zatkoff with 1:15 to play in the period.
The Crunch travel to Binghamton to face the Senators on Dec. 26.
