San Diego, CA - The Ontario Reign (30-14-3-1) fell to the San Diego Gulls (25-20-1-1) 4-2 at Valley View Casino Center Saturday evening to open a five-game road trip. Forward Andrew Crescenzi pushed his personal point streak to three games (two goals, four assists) with an assist tonight.

The Gulls broke the scoreless tie late in the second period as defenseman Brandon Montour broke down the right wing and beat Reign netminder Peter Budaj (L, 26 saves on 29 shots) with a snap shot over the glove at 15:37. Seconds later, Reign defenseman Kevin Raine, who skated as a forward tonight, knocked a bouncing puck past the blocker of Gulls goaltender Anton Khudobin (W, 30 saves on 32 shots) at 15:54 for his first goal of the season. Crescenzi and defenseman Christian Ehrhoff added assists.

In the third period, the Reign jumped out to a brief 2-1 lead off a blast from defenseman Nick Ebert from the left point at 1:40, but the Gulls responded 22 seconds later as forward Joseph Cramarossa knocked a shot past Budaj. Defenseman Jeff Schulz picked up the lone assist on the Ebert marker.

As the clock ticked down, the Gulls pulled ahead for good at 15:42 as forward Matt Berry ripped in his third goal of the season. Forward Mike Sgarbossa sealed the victory with an empty-net goal at 19:21. Both teams finished the game 0-for-4 on the power play.

The Reign continue a five-game road trip with a pair of contests against the Texas Stars on February 26 and 27 in Cedar Park, Texas and the San Antonio Rampage on March 6 and March 9 in San Antonio, Texas.
