KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (May 20, 2014) - The Hickory Crawdads pounded out 15 hits on their way to a 10-3 win over the Kannapolis Intimidators on Tuesday at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. Kannapolis (21-23) dropped a series to the Crawdads for the first time this season.

Hickory broke a 2-2 tie with three runs in the third inning and never looked back. With two on and one out, Ryan Cordell singled up the middle to drive in Nick Vickerson, and center fielder Hunter Jones let the ball get under his glove, allowing another run to score and allowing Cordell to end up on third. Travis Demeritte added a run on a sac-fly for a 5-2 lead.

Kannapolis starter Tyler Barnette (2-2) took the loss, allowing five runs (three earned) on eight hits over 3.0 innings. Jose Brito spun the next 3.0 frames for the Intimidators, allowing a pair of unearned runs on two hits.

Hickory's Ricardo Rodriguez (2-1) came on in relief with one out in the fifth inning and worked 3 and 2/3 innings to pick up the win. He took over for starter Kelvin Vasquez, who last 4 and 1/3 frames, striking out seven batters while allowing two runs on three hits.

In the first inning, Jacob Morris followed a Danny Hayes 2-out double with an RBI-single for an early 1-0 lead. The Crawdads jumped ahead on Demeritte's 2-run home run in the second, but Kannapolis tied the game, 2-2, on a Tyler Williams RBI-fielders choice in the home half of the inning.

Demeritte, a Rangers first round pick in the June 2013 First-Year Player Draft, paced the Crawdads offense, going 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored while teammate Ryan Cordell went 3-for-5 with an RBI and 3 runs scored.

The Intimidators are off on Wednesday before opening a 7-game road trip to Delmarva and Hickory on Thursday. The team returns to Kannapolis on Thursday, May 29. For ticket and promotional information, call the F&M Bank Box Office at (704) 932-3267 or visit IntimidatorsBaseball.com.
