Suns Take Series Finale over Legends, 11-4

(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) Wilmer Difo hit two home runs and drove in four runs as the Hagerstown Suns pulled away late for an 11-4 win over the Lexington Legends Tuesday night.

The Legends took a 3-2 lead with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning when Chad Johnson singled and Frank Schwindel doubled. Schwindel and Johnson each had three hits for Lexington, as did Dominique Taylor.

Hagerstown came back with four runs in the sixth. With one out, John Wooten got an infield hit and moved to third on Spencer Kieboom's double. Jimmy Yezzo's single scored Wooten with the tying run as Kieboom moved to third. After Yezzo advanced to second on a wild pitch, Carlos Lopez doubled, scoring Kieboom and Yezzo and giving the Suns a 5-3 lead. Wilman Rodriguez reached on a throwing error by third baseman Carlos Garcia. Lopez moved to third on the error, and scored on a single by Brennan Middleton.

Difo's solo homer in the seventh extended the lead to 7-3, and he came back with a three-run shot in the eighth to give the Suns a 10-3 margin.

Each team scored a run in the ninth inning.

Hagerstown starter Nick Pivetta (7-2) earned his South Atlantic League-leading seventh victory. He worked five and one-third innings and allowed nine hits and three runs.

Lexington starter Cody Reed (0-4) took the loss.

The Legends won three out of four in the series with Hagerstown, which leads the South Atlantic League Northern Division.

After an off day Wednesday, the Legends will open a four-game series with Savannah, which is in first place the Southern Division. Game time Thursday night is 7:05 p.m.
