
Crawdads Can't Overcome Early Runs in Loss to Greensboro

Hickory, NC - The Crawdads dropped the series opener against the Greensboro Grasshoppers 5-1 on Tuesday night, extending the 'Dads losing streak to six games.
The Grasshoppers hopped on Crawdads' starter Justin Slaten for two runs in the second inning. They tacked on another run (unearned) in the sixth off reliever Joe Kuzia. Tai Tiedemann came into the game in the seventh and allowed two runs in his two innings of work. Jean Casanova pitched a scoreless ninth.
The 'Dads rallied to load the bases for Pedro Gonzalez in the bottom of the ninth. Gonzalez delivered a sacrifice fly for the team's first run in 14 innings. The Crawdads were unable to get any more runs in, falling 5-1 to the Grasshoppers.
All four Crawdads hits on the evening were singles. Cleanup hitter Jake Guenther recorded one in the ninth inning rally while the bottom of the lineup in Pedro Gonzalez, Frainyer Chavez, and Miguel Aparicio each got hits earlier in the evening. The 'Dads also recorded four walks.
Tomorrow evening the 'Dads will square off against the Hoppers for a 7pm first pitch. It's Monopoly Night so come dressed in costume for a discounted $6 ticket. Wednesday will also be Kids Win Wednesday presented by Arby's and all kids 12 and under will get a free voucher to the carousel, speed pitch, and bounce house. It will also be Wine Wednesday so stop by and see Catawba Farms and Carolina Vines by the café for a wine sampling.
