Cozens, Walding Power Pigs to 7-3 Victory

Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs came from behind once again to pick up their fourth win in five tries this homestand. Trailing twice in the ballgame, Lehigh Valley rallied back twice and scored three runs in the sixth inning to defeat the Norfolk Tides 7-3 and improve to 6-4 on the season and 4-1 at home.
Mitch Walding and Dylan Cozens continued to swing hot bats as they both went deep for the Pigs. Walding, who drove in three runs, put the Pigs ahead on two different occasions. Trailing by one in the fourth, Walding drove his second home run of the season into right-center field to give the Pigs a 3-2 lead. After Norfolk evened the score in the top of the fifth, Walding singled to center field, scoring Jesmuel Valentin for his third RBI.
The Pigs got five innings of relief from Tyler Viza (1-1), Austin Davis and Pedro Beato, who backed up starter Jake Thompson after three innings of work. The pen allowed just one run and struck out eight.
Davis gave the Pigs two scoreless innings of relief and did not allow a hit while striking out three. In five appearances this season, Davis has a 2.57 ERA in seven innings with eight strikeouts.
Cozens, already with two home runs on the homestand, added his third in the sixth inning. Up by one and needing insurance, the lefty lined a three-run shot over the right-field wall off former IronPig Joely Rodriguez (0-1).
Walding and Cozens are each hitting over .400 at home this season. In five games, they each have eight hits and a combined total of 11 RBIs.
The Pigs and Tides will resume their three-game series tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. Zach Eflin will take the ball, looking for his third win of the season. Thursday is Wrestling Night at Coca-Cola Park with gates opening up at 5:45 p.m.
